Frank Phillips Women’s Volleyball Set to Honor Sophomores in Final Home Game of the Season!
Borger, TX: The Lady Plainsmen Women's Volleyball Team will have its final home game this Saturday (October 23) at 2:00 PM versus Odessa College. After the game Head Coach McKenna Clement will lead a postgame ceremony honoring the following sophomores (Mia Chavez, Marina Maia, Madisen Fobbs, Catyn Wright, Jezabel Bernard Saez, Zuzanna Zietek, and Riley Valliant.
Here is a short bio for all of the sophomores:
Mia Chavez- Sophomore Mia Chavez- Ayabar will be escorted by her teammate and friend Alana Marinez, Coach McKenna, Coach D. Mia has is a DS/Libero for Frank Phillips College and will be graduating with her associate's in general science. She looks to continue her athletic career at a university where she also studies in the medical field. Mia's favorite memory of FPC is when the team went to the water park for team bonding and that was the only time, they had seen her swim! Mia would like to thank Coach McKenna and Coach D for always believing in her ability and helping her become and good athlete and an even better person. Mia would also like to thank her mother for ALL the love and support she has given from home. Congratulations, Mia. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication you have put into this program.
Marina Maia – Sophomore Marina Maia will be escorted by her boyfriend Dominic, Coach Mckenna, and Coach D. Marina is an outside/opposite hitter for Frank Phillips College and will be graduating with her associates in business administration. She is looking to continue her athletic career at a 4-year university and get a degree in International Relations/ Communication Degree. Marina's favorite memory of FPC is the pool recovery days. Having fun with her teammates and going to the lake with her friends. Marina would first like to thank God for the opportunity to play the sport she loves in a place she calls "home away from home". Secondly, her family and friends back home in Brazil that have supported her throughout her entire volleyball career and pushed her to keep going. Marina wants to make sure to thank her boyfriend Dom, for being by her side for the last 2 years! Finally, Marina thanks Coach D and Coach Mckenna for "pushing me to be better in every aspect of my life. You guys have given me a family in a whole new country, and I will forever be grateful for everything. To my girls, I love you guys deeply and I wish you the best in everything". Madisen Fobbs- Sophomore Madisen Fobbs will be escorted by her Father, Byron Fobbs. Maddie is a Middle Hitter for Frank Phillips College and will be graduating with her associates in general science. She is looking to continue her athletic career at a 4 – year university and become a traveling nurse in the future. Maddie's favorite memory of FPC is the locker room experience with her team on game days and traveling to games with her teammates. Maddie would like to thank Coach Mckenna and D for all the support and love as well as her teammates she now calls family. Congratulations, Maddie. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication you have put into this program.
Catyn Wright – Sophomore Catyn Wright is escorted by her mother and Father, Ann and David and her sisters, Ashton and Darby. Catyn is an outside/opposite hitter for Frank Phillips College and will be graduating with her associate's in general science. She is looking to find a school with a great cosmetology program and pursue her cosmetology career. Catyn's favorite memory of FPC is playing just dance in the dorms with her teammates. Catyn would like to thank Coach McKenna and D. She would also like to thank her grandparents for all their support. Congratulations, Catyn. Jezabel Bernard Saez – Sophomore Jezabel Bernard Saez will be escorted by her Mother Nydia Saez. Jezabel is an outside/opposite hitter for Frank Phillips College and will be graduating with her associate's in business. She is looking to continue her athletic career at a 4 – year university and become a coach in the future. Jezabel's favorite memory of FPC is making friends for a lifetime and the locker room parties before game day! Another core memory for Jezabel is when the team went to the water park during preseason! Jezabel would like to thank her teammates for always supporting each other and being happy for everyone. Zuzanna Zietek – Sophomore Zuzanna Zietek will be escorted by her teammates Maria and Alexia. Zuzu is an opposite hitter for Frank Phillips College and will be graduating with her associates in psychology. She is looking to continue her athletic career at a 4 – year university and study sports psychology. She aims to graduate with her bachelor's degree and return to Poland to play professionally and help other athletes. Zuzu's favorite memory from FPC is every game and every practice. Each memory is unforgettable and will always be cherished. Zuzu would like to thank Coach McKenna and Coach D, my friends, and all my teammates. Riley Valliant- Sophomore Riley Valliant will be escorted by her parents, Latasha and Gary Kirby. Siblings – Kyla and Ayden. Riley is a middle hitter for Frank Phillips College and will be graduating with her associate's in business. She is looking to continue her athletic career at a university of her choice. Riley's favorite memory from FPC is all the moments and laughs shared with her teammates. Riley would like to thank her plainsmen parents, Mark and Amy Laird for bringing her in with open arms. She would also like to thank Coach D and Mckenna for taking a chance on her and for always pushing her to be the best version of herself on and off the court.
