Christalah Lyons enters her first season as Associate Head Coach at Frank Phillips College. She will be primarily working with the guards, handling recruiting and the day-to-day operations of the program. She also has a vast amount of experience in the NJCAA both as a coach and player.

AS A COACH:

Coach Lyons previous stops as a coach before coming to Borger was in East Texas at her alma mater Trinity Valley Community College. In the 2022-2023 season TVCC won the regular season conference and regional championship before losing in the national championship game. At TVCC Coach Lyons was responsible for recruiting and working with the point guards. Prior to her being at TVCC she was an assistant coach at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville Mississippi. During her two-year stint Lyons was very influential, especially during the 2021-22 season by helping PRCC win their first MACCC Conference Championship and Region 23 Championship game appearance since 2003. The Wildcats finished 22-6 along with a NJCAA ranking at #18 during the season. Her primary responsibilities were recruiting, scouting, player development along with camp organization and community service.

AS A PLAYER:

As a two-year starting point guard for nationally ranked Trinity Valley Community College, Christalah led the Lady Cardinals to back-to-back national championship games. During her tenure at TVCC Lyons won a total of 66 games. Lyons was also the team captain and the first recipient of the distinguished Kurt Budke Award which is given to student athletes that represent the program with the highest character in the classroom, on the court and in the community. Her standout performances also landed her on several recruiting rankings, including No. 4 at her position and No. 11 overall in the country.

After leaving Trinity Valley, Christalah went on to play and finish her college career at The University of Kansas in the BIG XII conference where she made an immediate impact during the 2017-18 season as a junior and was one of two Jayhawks to start all 30 games. She led KU in scoring with 14.8 ppg and was the only Kansas player to score more than 400 points (443). Against Big 12 foes. Lyons upped her game and ranked 10th among her counterparts with a 15.1 scoring clip. The junior hit double-figures 27 times and eclipsed 20 points three times. Lyons finished her junior season averaging 3.2 assists per game — good enough for 10th in the conference — and sank 43.1 percent of her shots from the floor. The 5-foot-6 guard also averaged 3.1 rebounds. The performance earned Lyons All-Big 12 Honorable Mention status.

As a senior in 2018-19, Lyons continued to excel. She was once again one of only two Jayhawks to start every game. She averaged 12 points overall and 12.8 against Big 12 competition. She also hit double figures 17 times with a career-best 24-point performance coming against Iowa State. She shot 39.2 percent from the floor for the season and led KU in assists with 96 for a 3.1 average. Once again, she was selected as an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Science in 2019.

Following her KU career, Lyons played professionally in Romania for one season
