Lady Plainsmen Finish Winning Season
[BORGER - May 5, 2025]
Lady Plainsmen end the year on a high note and secure a winning season!
This season for the Lady Plainsmen started off strong before Christmas break with a historic start. However, once conference started they faltered a bit but were able to correct the situation. They had a great shot at making the regional tournament in Ewing first year at the helm. During the season he collected his 300th win (more on that soon) and now sits at 304 for his career.
They had 2 students selected to the all conference team in Teresa Mbemba and Solenne Olenga. Mbemba was the leading scorer this season as she averaged over 13 points per game all while not taking a 3 pointer all season. She was also able to average nearly 5 rebounds per game. Olenga, a freshman, had a huge season averaging a double-double on the year. At 12.7 ppg and 10.3 rpg she will be a huge bright spot returning to the floor next season.
They were able to beat some big opponents including some wins against ranked opponents for the first time in 5+ years on the way to a winning record. They were a few pieces away from making a run at regionals but with a full year of recruiting Ewing will be able to find those pieces for next season. Coach Ewing had this to say, “I am extremely proud of my FPC staff & team for all of their work & effort in our 1st season! This is a tough conference & finishing 5th is a good start to a new beginning!”
It is clear to say the future is bright for the Lady Plainsmen! #ProtectThePlains
