Softball Nabs 5 All-Conference Selections
The Lady Plainsmen Softball team is coming off another productive season as they racked up 20 wins and had another great showing at the regional tournament. They have set yet another record for the program by having five players named to the all-conference team. The coveted honor was earned by the following players:
Madelyn Cason, a freshman pitcher from Wichita Falls, TX. She threw 170 innings and have 105 strikeouts while going the distance in 24 of her 30 starts.
Hailey Montemayor and Kailee Sanchez earned a spot on the infield team as Montemayor split time behind the plate as well as at shortstop. She had a .939 fielding percentage on 143 outs. At the dish she .387 average and knocked in 50 runs. Sanchez was able to be the leadoff hitter throughout the season and got on base almost half the time with a .495 OBP. She was second on the team in the hits column with 70, 22 of those were extra base hits.
Hope Soria made the outfield team with only 5 errors on the year while making some incredible diving plays taking away hits for the opponent. At the dish, Soria had a .359 average.
Savannah Sanchez rounds out the list by being selected as the DP/UTL player of the year. She had a .467 average and a .928 slugging percentage. She drove in 81 RBIs on 71 hits. She was second in conference with 17 long balls and only struck out 12 times all season.
