Four Men’s Basketball Players Receive Conference Recognition
Borger, TX: The Frank Phillips College Men's Basketball team has continued to have a groundbreaking season which continued with the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) announcing four Plainsmen for All-Conference recognition.
Mady Traore was named WJCAC Defensive Player of the Year, as well as selected to the All Conference 1st team. Traore has been a massive addition to the Plainsmen squad leading the conference with 90 blocks on the season. The Maryland transfer averaged 13.3 PPG 8.6 RPG and shot percentages of 54/20/76.3 for the year. Traore will be headed to Washington next year in the Big Ten conference.
LA Hayes was also named to the All Conference 1st Team. Hayes led the Plainsmen in scoring at 16.8 PPG with notable scoring performances against South Plains College (31 and 29), Odessa College (23), and a 23 point perfromance against McLennan Community College in the Region V semi-final game. This also landed Hayes on the Region V All-Tournament team.
Sherman Weatherspoon was named All Conference. The Valparaiso transfer averaged 10.1 PPG shooting percentages of 39/34.2/79.4. Weatherspoon had notable games scoring 28 points against Florida Southwestern and 26 points at New Mexico Junior College.
Alem Fejzic was was also named All conference. Fejzic was a major sparkplug for the Plainsmen due to his 3-point shooting ability. Fejzic made 88 3-pointers on the year at a percentage of 39%. Fejzic avaeraged 9.4 Points per game for the Plainsmen had notable games making six three pointers at Midland College, five three pointers at Odessa College, and five three-pointers against Howard College.
